About Crystal Hicks
MSW, LCSW
Crystal is a kind and patient therapist who enjoys working with individuals and couples to achieve positive outcomes. She strives to create a comfortable space for clients to seek counsel, without fear of judgment. Crystal believes that everyone encounters challenges, so she helps each of her clients develop the tools they need to be an Overcomer.
Crystal’s ten years of experience include helping both children and adults cope with a variety of issues. Her background is in parenting support, pediatric mental health, and medical social work, serving populations of all ages. Crystal tailors her approach to the client’s developmental stage, preferences, and goals for therapy. She also enjoys applying a spiritual perspective to counseling methods for those clients who prefer it.
Couples of all stages may benefit from Crystal’s use of the scientifically proven Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. This method aims to repair relationships with a variety of interventions. If a relationship is characterized by conflict, apathy, even betrayal, couples therapy may be the key to unlocking the emotional intimacy desired. Crystal knows it can be a difficult step to begin counseling, and some may feel apprehensive. She wants her clients to know that couples are treated equally with respect to the relationship as a whole, including each partner’s needs. The Gottman Method can also be used from a Biblical perspective if desired.
Crystal sees adults and children (ages 6 and older). She utilizes an evidence-based approach for each client, including methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, and EMDR trauma therapy. She has received education and specialty training in mindfulness for adolescents, family therapy, positive parenting, EMDR, and the Gottman Method.
